earlier when i was at the bank i watched a tad of fox news on the TV that they had there for waiting customers. i'm not sure if there's a correlation between how ignorant and useless people are and how much TV they watch, but i think it's worth looking into. whilst watching the bickering between some spineless liberal and some van gough of a conservative bullshit artist, george bush was quoted for saying, "[terrorists] are disbanding because they're afraid of our freedom."
... i'm not even sure what to say about that. for starters, i'd be afraid of our freedom too. i'm willing to bet that our country has more restrictive laws than any other country in the "free" world. our concept of freedom is exclusive to capitalism. they're not afraid of our freedom, if they're afraid of anything, they're afraid of falling under the globalization that's consumed a significant portion of the world, if not the majority; of losing their culture to a punch clock; of trading in their religion for used cars and convenience marts. not that i'm a fan of culture or religion, but it's just idiocy to shove a gun in a person's face and force them to give up all of their traditions for "freedom." you'd think that with saddam gone and the dissipation of totalitarian authority, the people of the country would embrace "freedom," but apparantly they need to have freedom forced upon them, at which point, i think you can safely say that it isn't freedom. it's like when that ass of a senator, i forget his name, the founder of the christian coalition, said that we should assassinate the leader of venezuela. a representative from venezuela demanded an apology and asked the bush administration to condemn the statement. instead, bush said that we don't have any plans for venezuela, but he didn't condemn the statement because venezuela hasn't "adopted democracy" and they should be seen as "a potential beacon of spreading communism." there's a conundrum that arises when the majority of a population doesn't want what we call democracy. in fact, democracy fits into communism much easier than it does capitalism. capitalism's nothing but a refined version of fuedalism.
